The name
Why an island?
fx, as in special effects. jima (島), as in the Japanese word for island. Put together: a small island where effects are made — sound synthesized out of thin air, tone read between the lines, flashcards that write themselves.
The island is also how everything here is built. Modern apps ship your words, your habits, and your voice to someone else's computer. fxjima apps run Apple's on-device intelligence instead: the models live on your iPhone, the thinking happens there, and your data never leaves the shore.
One person. Native code. No ads, no trackers, no accounts. Apps ship when they feel right — not when a quarter ends.
fxjima — say it fx·jee·ma. Always lowercase.
